El vertedero de La Chureca, situado en Managua, es el mayor habitado de Latinoamérica, durante cuatro décadas ha recibido sin control miles de toneladas de desperdicios. En este lugar niños harapientos, muchos desnutridos y raquíticos,se disputan con aves carroñeras, perros, cerdos y vacas las migajas de los alimentos que se arrojan diariamente al vertedero,un emblema de la pobreza en Nicaragua.

The Chureca landfill, located in Managua, is the largest inhabited landfill in Latin America has for four decades received thousands of tonnes of waste unchecked. Here ragged children, many malnourished and stunted, vying for food chumba with carrion birds, dogs, pigs and cows that are thrown to the landfill daily, an emblem of poverty in Nicaragua.
